Grounded in local context and guided by universal architectural principles, RAF works across residential, commercial, and cultural scales, aiming to produce flexible and well-crafted spaces regardless of size.
In its design process, the studio prioritizes eliminating the unnecessary, transforming what already exists, and bringing decisions at every scale into a coherent whole. Material clarity, spatial legibility, and sensory atmosphere are the key elements that shape the identity of its architecture.
By carefully reading existing conditions, RAF’s proposals aim to transform them into spaces that form strong connections with their users. Embracing this approach, RAF continues its work from its Istanbul-based studio as a collective design practice rooted in strong relationships with both context and people.

RAF takes its name from the concept of the “rhizome” introduced by Deleuze and Guattari.
The rhizome describes a decentralized system that grows horizontally and continuously forms new connections.
Over more than a decade, the involvement of numerous architects and industry professionals across different periods has been a key factor in supporting the studio’s ability to adapt across scales and maintain continuity in its design language. The team is not defined solely by its current members, but by all the minds that have engaged in its production over the years.
In this sense, the rhizome is not merely a way of thinking for the studio, but a fundamental working model that shapes its production. r.a.f.studio aims to cultivate an open and multi-directional design environment in which all actors are involved through a non-hierarchical process.
